monster hunter: legends of the guild review

It sports the cast and crew of the Hollywood Resident Evil movies and is scheduled to begin production this September. If Legends of the Guild wasn’t enough for your Monster Hunter needs, then you’ll be happy to know that there is a live-action film set to arrive in the future. The timing, however, is impeccable as Monster Hunter: World on PC is expected to release in August this year. Production is scheduled to be completed by this winter, although that may be subject to change. Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild is being written by Joshua Fine, who previously worked on Ultimate Spider-Man.

The Monster Hunter special is designed to enrich the lore surrounding the series, while pleasing the fans of the video game franchise. He gets his chance a little sooner than later when he found out that the village he lives in is along the path of an Elder Dragon, one of the most feared monsters in the series. Monster Hunter: Legend of the Guild tells a story of a brave young man who is determined to prove himself as a hunter. People may recognise Pure Imagination Studios for their work on LEGO Batman. The animated special will be co-produced and financed alongside Pure Imagination Studios. Being marked as a special means that it may not be a full-on animated film like Capcom’s Resident Evil 3D movies. It’s a great introduction to the broader Monster Hunter series and a great time for those who enjoy games like Pokemon.

This is the second story-focused Monster Hunter project to release in 2021, with the first being Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, which I reviewed in July. It’s nice to see we get a better look at what living in a world full of monsters is like, as opposed to Milla Jovovich’s isekai adventure in the theatrical Monster Hunter movie. From the character designs to the weapons and monsters, a lot of the imagery looks like it was ripped straight out of the 2018 game. Unlike the film released last year, Legends of the Guild take more direct inspiration from Monster Hunter World. Follow young Aiden and his hunting party on an epic quest to protect his village from a fiery Elder Dragon! #MonsterHunter: Legends of the Guild is now streaming on Netflix.
